Emmy Awards 2010: Worst and Best Dressed

Here's my list of Emmy Awards 2010 of worst and best dressed:

BEST

1. Heidi Klum - She kept it safe with this little black dress but her hair and necklace added an "UMPH!"  to her overall look. However, I find the the dress too short that it could be uncomfortable to wear especially when sitting. Not to forget, her Christian Louboutin's are fit for her toned legs - gorgeous!

2. Kim Kardashian -Wow! I love how she carried this Grecian dress. It tamed her "x-factor" but none the less, the simplicity made her look sexy, yet classy.

3. Emily Blunt - The lavender color of her dress gave her a fresh and young look. It also complements her skin tone. Make up is simple but, made her stood out still.

4. Diana Agron - Vintage and lacey. The black ribbon accentuated the layered lace dress. The gown fits her well. This is something I would want to wear on a prom or a graduation ball.

5. Jane Lynch and Kyra Sedgwick - Both dressed their age. This is "Simplicty is beauty". By the way, Jane , who plays Sue Sylvester on Glee won the Best Supporting Actress for comedy.

* * *

WORST

1. Lauren Bosworth - UNDER-DRESSED! Need I say more?

2. January Jones - Nothing is more annoying than the "funnel-like" thing that cups her breasts. I think her dress plus its color could give her a role for the movie Austin Powers.

3. Kris Jenner - Although Kim Kardashian managed to look sexy, mom Kris made a huge mistake when she chose this dress which is not quite figure flattering. Her hips was emphaSIZED.

4. Christina Hendricks - Though I love the dress' lilac color, what's up with those bulging boobies and those feathers?

5. Naya Rivera and Mindy Kaling - Did you girls talked about those high buns? Your dresses made you look shorter. Were you separated at birth?

"thrilla" in manila?.. i hope not...

Last August 23, 2010, a tragic 11-hour hostage crisis happened, killing 8 Chinese tourists  plus the hostage taker himself, former Senior Inspector Rolando Mendoza at the Quirino Grandstand, Manila.

Fear, anger, sadness and sympathy are the words the best describe how we all felt when this news aired on local and international TV stations.

Below is a video clip, from a Canadian - citing how he felt for the Chinese victims as well as for the the Filipinos who had also been gravely affected and saddened by this crisis.

All of us, we do not want what had happened. Hand in hand, we pray for the all victims of this tragedy.  May all their souls rest in peace. We also pray that this won't break the good relationship of the Filipinos and the Chinese.

And for you Andrew, thank you so much... Much love, from the Philippines... Mabuhay ka!

a "sunDATE" with God

i haven't been able to hear mass for a long time now because of my work schedule. i know. i'm bad. so i promised myself and God to make it a point seeing Him on sundays.

so to start this, me and my friend hazel attended an early mass at greenbelt church, makati. i originally planned to go with my mom  to attend mass at a church nearby, but she already attended  an anticipated one so i just decided to join my friend. we both have to go to work anyways.

officiated by a monsignor (i forgot his name) mass started at exactly 7:15 am. lots of people attended the celebration. its nice to hear church songs again. there's no better feeling as  to listening to the priest's sermon, while hearing birds twitting, feeling the morning's cold breeze kissing my skin plus that fresh leaves' scent on the air. i especially love how i feel close to nature, close to God.

more than anything else, we all must feed not only our tummies but our spirits as well. hearing mass is a spiritual nourishment.  and the church is the place to be. it is where you can find tranquility and peace of mind. the freedom from all the worldy things.

i am pretty much sure God missed me. and i missed Him too. :D

'till our next "SUNDATE"!

hugs! ♥

froyo @ tutti frutti with hazy

craving for ice cream but you're on a strict diet? TUTTI FRUTTI frozen yogurt is surely for you!

"FROYO"/"FROGURT is short term for frozen yogurt. its a dessert made of yogurt and other dairy products. compared to ice cream, it has lesser fats because it is made of pure milk instead of cream.

just after work, my friend hazel texted me and asked if we could meet at glorietta. since its on my way home, i agreed and invited her to try the tutti frutti frozen yogurt.

hazel chose strawberry yogurt while i wanted to be daring so i selected peanut butter.  i topped  mine with kiwi, strawberry, mango, mandarin orange, peaches and raspberry. i also added sliced almonds and wall nuts to give texture and crisp. and because i am a fruit and nut lover, i really liked (i mean LOVED) indulging on every spoon.

the fruity toppings

the nutty toppings plus marshmallows, cereals, chocolates, etc.
its so yummy yet you will be guilt free. eating this yogurt makes me forget about ice cream because its like eating ice cream too (only healthier). aside from that, you won't be bored of eating this because you can be creative and choose from a variety of toppings. you can top it with jellies, nuts, fruits, cereals, chocolate and marshmallows.

"the beauty and the best" hahah!

 joycey and hazy

they have yogurt available on cone which is priced Php85 and yogurt on cup which is Php20 an ounce.

much love,

NOTE:
tutti frutti is located at 3rd floor, glorietta 4

"me day"

last tuesday since its my rest day, i decided to unwind and just basically chill out - by myself. its not that i'm a loner of some sort, but its just that i am the type who wants to have a time for herself. so instead of just facebooking and flipping the tv channels at home, i just opted to have "my day" at the mall.

i went to robinson's galleria and had a hearty merienda at krispy kreme. i ordered my favorite vanilla glazed cake and partnered it with the raspberry chiller. gak! brain freeze!!! :D

top left is the vanilla glazed cake (this isn't the real picture of the KK doughnut i ate. forgot to take the picture, i finished it fast . told you its my fave! hehe!)

my raspberry chillerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :)
after the food munching session, i window shopped for a while and went straight ahead to megamall for a visit to forever flawless to have my facial. as usual, i requested for the acne control one since nothing else  aside from this, is allowed for my acne prone skin.

ooops! not me!
my aesthetician which happens to be named joyce (as well) is the best and the most customer oriented of all the aestheticians who had ever done my facial. she is polite and friendly plus she didn't do the "hard selling" which most of them do. she did not offer me this and that but just created a chart of my skin improvements instead and asked me about what products i use for my face. (what?? been having my facial for quite a long time @ ff, but why were my records only created now??).

the real me, trying the advanced acne control facial
anyway, since i think she knows what she is saying, i was convinced to try the acne control advanced facial she was telling me about.  well, if you are claustrophobic, the mask would  be a horror! imagine having your face (including eyes and lips) covered by a marshmallowish cement. yikes! i told joyce not to leave me until i finish the mask. hahaha! :p

i loved how my face glowed after the procedure. joyce also gave me her cellphone number just in case i have other concerns. ;)

archie plus betty and veronica comics
before going home i went to national bookstore to buy archie comics. they say reading english comics helps improve one's conversational english skills. :) i also window shopped at forever21 and was not able to buy something because i did not find anything worth buying.

the day is all worth it. i went home happy and recharged to go to work the next day! more "me days" to come :)

much love,

criticisms on "love the way you lie" - eminem ft. rihanna

eminem is known for his controversial songs which oftenly cause raising eyebrows especially among the critics. "love the way you lie" a newly released single from his album entitled "recovery" is  yet another controversial song featuring himself and singer rihanna has been causing discussions over domestic violence on its violent lyrics and brutal music video clips.

rihanna herself came from an abusive relationship with singer chris brown who had been  court ordered to perform community service because of physically abusing her. eminem on the other hand had a shaky relationship with ex-wife kim, with whom he had three children and whom he divorced twice.

Love The Way You Lie

Just gonna stand there
And watch me burn
But that's alright
Because I like
The way it hurts
Just gonna stand there
And hear me cry
But that's alright
Because I love
The way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie

I can't tell you what it really is
I can only tell you what it feels like
And right now there's a steel knife
In my windpipe
I can't breathe
But I still fight
While I can fight
As long as the wrong feels right
It's like I'm in flight
High of a love
Drunk from the hate
It's like I'm huffing paint
And I love it the more that I suffer
I suffocate
And right before im about to drown
She resuscitates me
She fucking hates me
And I love it
Wait
Where you going
I'm leaving you
No you ain't
Come back
We're running right back
Here we go again
It's so insane
Cause when it's going good
It's going great
I'm Superman
With the wind in his bag
She's Lois Lane
But when it's bad
It's awful
I feel so ashamed
I snap
Who's that dude
I don't even know his name
I laid hands on her
I'll never stoop so low again
I guess I don't know my own strength

Just gonna stand there
And watch me burn
But that's alright
Because I like
The way it hurts
Just gonna stand there
And hear me cry
But that's alright
Because I love
The way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie

You ever love somebody so much
You can barely breathe
When you're with them
You meet
And neither one of you
Even know what hit 'em
Got that warm fuzzy feeling
Yeah them chills
Used to get 'em
Now you're getting fucking sick
Of looking at 'em
You swore you've never hit 'em
Never do nothing to hurt 'em
Now you're in each other's face
Spewing venom
And these words
When you spit 'em
You push
Pull each other's hair
Scratch, claw, bit 'em
Throw 'em down
Pin 'em

So lost in the moments
When you're in 'em
It's the rage that took over
It controls you both
So they say it's best
To go your separate ways
Guess that they don't know ya
Cause today
That was yesterday
Yesterday is over
It's a different day
Sound like broken records
Playin' over
But you promised her
Next time you'll show restraint
You don't get another chance
Life is no Nintendo game
But you lied again
Now you get to watch her leave
Out the window
Guess that's why they call it window pane

Just gonna stand there
And watch me burn
But that's alright
Because I like
The way it hurts
Just gonna stand there
And hear me cry
But that's alright
Because I love
The way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie

Now I know we said things
Did things
That we didn't mean
And we fall back
Into the same patterns
Same routine
But your temper's just as bad
As mine is
You're the same as me
But when it comes to love
You're just as blinded
Baby please come back
It wasn't you
Baby it was me
Maybe our relationship
Isn't as crazy as it seems
Maybe that's what happens
When a tornado meets a volcano
All I know is
I love you too much
To walk away though
Come inside
Pick up your bags off the sidewalk
Don't you hear sincerity
In my voice when I talk
Told you this is my fault
Look me in the eyeball
Next time I'm pissed
I'll aim my fist
At the dry wall
Next time
There will be no next time
I apologize
Even though I know it's lies
I'm tired of the games
I just want her back
I know I'm a liar
If she ever tries to fucking leave again
I'mma tie her to the bed
And set the house on fire

Just gonna stand there
And watch me burn
But that's alright
Because I like
The way it hurts
Just gonna stand there
And hear me cry
But that's alright
Because I love
The way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie

i totally agree that video clips as well as parts of song lyrics are brutal and  are packed with  violence but this just implies the reality which happens to many relationships just like what had happened to rihanna and chris. reality could be violent. i personally believe that this song and its music video is generally reflecting truths in the society particularly on relationships.

on the downside, there are lots of children who could be hearing the song and seeing sensitive scenes on the music video. these do not set good examples and may even cause children to identify themselves with the characters in the video.

how about you? what can you say about the lyrics and the music video? i'd love to hear from you.

BAKLAVA @ cyma greek taverna

* BAKLAVA - A popular sweet pastry found in many cuisines of the Middle East and the Balkans, made of chopped nuts layered with phyllo pastry.

(*please click the word to hear pronunciation. )

it all started when i posted a picture of real baklavas on my facebook wall and tagged my colleagues who are also into playing "baking life".

the baklava picture i posted on facebook
by the way, BAKING LIFE is a facebook application where you get to manage your own bakery and basically bake pastries for your store. you have to earn money in order for you to buy recipes of the goodies you can bake and sell, to pay for the wages of your temporary workers and of course to buy furnitures and appliances to improve the look and feel of your store. from baking life, it all had began.

anyway, since we haven't really tasted the real ones, my friends hazel and mishy (which happened to be baking life addicts too) decided to taste test this goodie. cyma was our choice because of the good reviews we read about their baklavas.

tell you what, i was quite disappointed with how their baklava tasted. its only as if you're eating a cinnamon roll (except that cinnamon is better, for me).

VS
baking life baklava

cyma baklava

their baklava is composed of phyllo layers (its hard to slice and chew - i have braces. teeehhhee!) with walnuts and orange honey syrup  in between.  its a bit dry and i guess that 's the reason  why its hard to cut into pieces. taste isn't bad but i am expecting more. spell disappointed. i haven't really tasted baklavas from other restos to say this but, for Php 180.00 ($3.83 as of writing) its a bluff!

i'd love to try cafe mediterranean's baklava since as per reading, it has pistachios as compared to cyma's which only has walnuts. cafe med's is only Php50.00 ($1.06) and they also have baklava ala mode which has vanilla ice cream and a choice of orange, mango or chocolate sauce topping for Php175.00. not bad eh?

this baklava experience is truly memorable. why? because i was able to bond with hazel and mishy and found new friends in chester and alex. setting the baklava disappointment aside, i enjoyed the entire "GREEKish" experience. mouth-watering foods plus excellent customer service at cyma is definitely two thumbs up!

here are the delectable foods we munched on @ cyma:

Moussaka

Tonnos Salata
Yiouvetsi
Hummous

Glyka Sampler
Tonnos Salata 2
Chicken Acropolis

OPPPPAAAA! :D

my purederm packs

going to a spa to relax and to get your favorite facial mask can be quite expensive and time consuming (talk about the budget plus the long queue of customers especially on weekends, holidays and on pay days).

well, great news! have you heard of PUREDERM? its a korean brand which offers skin care products ranging from cleansers,  bb creams, nosestrips, makeup remover, and masks.

since i read a lot of good reviews about their DUAL WELLBEING PACK and STRAWBERRY YOGURT MASK, i got curious about them and bought my own to try. i also added VITALIZING GREEN TEA PACK to my purchase.

i bought mine at watsons, sm makati for Php 29.75 per pack. how affordable is that?

i haven't tried the STRAWBERRY YOGURT MASK and VITALIZING GREEN TEA PACK yet so i'll just give you what i think of the DUAL WELLBEING PACK. below you can find the product details.

  •      2 in 1 Wash-off type multi massage pack
  •      Deep Cleansing Peeling Gel
              - Deeply cleansing pores, gently exfoliating, removing dead skin cells and refining skin surface. Skin   is   healthy looking and refreshed.
  •      Nutritious Vitamin Pack
             - Purederm's unique formula, enriched with Vitamin A, B3, C, E, provides essential nourishments and nutrients to restore soft, revitalized and healthy skin.

this is how the deep cleansing peeling gel looks like.....

see the whites?... i cannot identify if they are really dead skin cells or just make up residues.. =)

    and the nutritious vitamin pack....

    what i like about it:
    - citrusy and lemonish scent of the nutritious vitamin pack.
    - it has vitamins A, B3, C and E which are all good for the skin.
    - my skin feels supple and smooth after use.
    - affordable

what i don't like about it:
    - it stings a bit on my skin
    - this product only comes in sachets (hope it also comes in bottles)

    will i buy again?
    DEFINITELY!

i am not blessed with a porcelain skin like song hye kyo's, so i just have to take care of mine to keep it healthy and free from acne (arrrggghhh!).

self pampering need not to be expensive and time consuming. after all, you can have it at home.

by the way, purederm pack comes in other variants. :)
